kinda purple-y

Kinda purple-y, don't 'cha agree?! It's my sister's fav color and heading to her. Both of my local stamping stores offer make-'n-takes every Saturday, so I tend to alternate between shops. This one (CAM, see link at stores on right) turned me on to the Silhouette, and these black silhouette shapes came from one. This DP's 2-sided and their sample card used the other side, which was a marble-y green, but my sister and I both really love purple so I HAD to switch sides. No deets today!

WCMD

World Card Making Day falls on October 3rd this year. I've been enjoying it immensely already, 'cuz Cath Edvaldson's running a countdown of sorts - the World Tour of Card Making - on her Moxie Fab World blog.

In the five days leading up to WCMD she's blog hopping around the world and offering up amazin' prizes daily! Yesterday she shared cards made by bloggers from mainland Europe; today it's Austrailia and the UK; tomorrow it'll be the Dominican Republic, Japan, Morocco, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Singapore; Thursday it'll be Canada; and on Friday it'll be U.S. stampers.

So, pray tell, what're you still doing here?! Go check it out!
... but maybe I'll share a card later tonite ... wink wink!

a double whammy of sorts

This is a double whammy 'cuz I made this card in greens for Waltzing Mouse's color challenge (and 'cuz the bright green's one of my fav colors ... you can tell by my blog layout, right?! grins ... ) and using Card Patterns' Sketch 34 sketch layout. The cutie skeleton's in one of my fav of this year's Halloween stamp sets and includes the sentiment. I'm LOVIN' the skeleton - it's so friendly-looking and none too scary, so this card can go to anyone, including those w small kids. The crow's from a studio g release and so are the bats and "trick or treat" sentiment I used on the inside.

I'd picked up this DP at this past year's Mega Meet and love the color combo of black, white, and a splash of color; don't you?!

stamps: Cosmo Cricket's Haunted, studio g's series 20 and 34; paper: sei's eerie alley's batty DP, Paper Reflections' black and unknown white card stocks; ink: StazOn's Jet Black; accessories: sei's eerie alley ribbon; tools: SU's slit punch

boo!

The latest Halloween card, this is one of last night's projects from the stamping club I'm in that meets monthly. I love Halloween! I dunno about you, but for me, it's right up there playing a close 2nd to Christmas in terms of my decorating stash, costumes, and card-making. I have to remind myself regularly of how much I have at home each year when I see decorations and stamp sets! This card uses my two fav stamp Halloween stamp sets in the current CTMH catty. You can either use a white gel pen to write your greeting inside, or add small photos to use it as a mini photo gallery. When closed, we fastened it with an orange and black striped ribbon that Ann picked up from the Flower Factory in Utica MI. Sweet!

stamps: CTMH's Beware, Spellbound, paper: unknown orange and black card stock; ink: CTMH's Black; accessories: Flower Factory's orange and black striped ribbon

halloween treats

my fav of tonite's projects, this is a t'riffic way to store Halloween treats! we decorated this cute clear paint can as one of our craft stations tonite at our monthly stampin' club meeting - this month was the CTMH turn, led by the lovely and talented Ann Cortez. I'm lovin' this stamp set - it was high on my wish list but I just recently reviewed my stamp stash and I think I own close to a kazillion Halloween stamps already so I'm passing on it ... but it's SO STINKIN' CUTE, don't you think?! Here's a close-up of the greeting that wraps the can:

I learned of a shop I must check out in the Utica MI area tonite too - the Flower Factory, in Utica off M-59 ... methinks a field trip is in order!

stamps: CTMH's Beware, paper: orange and black card stock; ink: CTMH's Black

Cards for Heroes ...

becomes Operation Write Home! I'm just preparing a package of cards to send for our heroes to use to write home. The name change allows them to reserve all TLDs (such as .com, .org, .info, etc.) AND avoid confusion caused by the alternate spelling of heroes / heros. Change is good, eh?!

I'm ready to roll out - my sister's on her way to pick me up and we're heading to just west of Traverse City for a few days. Pray for good weather, okay? I've a book and few papercrafting mags should we be socked in by rain ... and hey, there's always movies and shopping, right?!

"See" you in a few days, folkes!

happy b'day Sue

A friend of mine is celebrating her birthday soon and I'm ready to drop this cutie into the mailbox while out doing errands this afternoon. Penny Black makes the cutest hedgehog stamps, don't you agree?! I love 'em all, and made this card with friends at one of Karen's recent make-'n-take Saturdays, but brought it home to stamp the sentiment. Today I used a few EK Success and Marvy punches and Nestabilities to add assorted flowers, circle and scalloped circle to hold a Happy Birthday laser cut greeting on the inside.

A quick post today for I SHOULD be getting ready as tomorrow my sister, Mom, niece and I are heading up north for a few days. My brother's already in Traverse City on business, and we'll be joining him tomorrow! I'm looking forward to it and hope the weather cooperates! Catch ya in a few days!

have a spooky night

I finally got the household PC wrestled away from my youngest so I could post today's card, a sketch challenge - SSS21 - from the kind folkes at The Sweet Stop. I'm kicking out some Halloween cards of late, probably my 2nd favorite holiday to make cards for, and got to play with this cute red spider web looking ribbon I'd picked up from a LSS recently.

stamps: A Muse Artstamps' Spooky night, Cosmo Cricket's Haunted, studio g's series 34; paper: The Paper Studio's Boho Chic DP, Paper Reflections' black, Prism textured black and SU's Real Red card stock; ink: StazOn's Jet Black; accessories: , K&Co 3D stickers, unknown red webby ribbon

to a t'riffic pear/pair

Taking a quick break from Halloween this weekend, I decided to play with some of the newest DP and stickers I picked up over the weekend and the latest sketch challenge, C4C2, from the Crazy 4 Challenges crew. This shows both sides of the 2-sided DP in the pear design which goes beautifully with Kiwi Kiss card stock, don't you think?! I stickle-brushed and distressed the edges of the vanilla card stock and distressed the DP, matted them, and layered it all on the Kiwi Kiss background.

stamps: n/a - PC-generated sentiment in Tahoma and Blackjack fonts, two of my favs; paper: Reminisce's textured pear DP, SU's Kiwi Kiss, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla card stocks; ink: SU Soft Suede; accessories: Reminisce's self-adhesive diecut stickers

flint festival of quilts

I stopped by the Flint Festival of Quilts yesterday (and plan to head to the planetarium today); it was my shortest visit ever on record but what I DID catch was great!

If you're in the area, you can still catch the Michigan Quilt Artists Invitational's exhibit at the Greater Flint Arts Council at 816 S Saginaw thru October 2, and the star quilts exhibit at the Longway Planetarium at 1310 E Kearsley thru today at 5 p.m. - both in downtown Flint. Amazin' stuff, I tell you, AND free admission to boot! It was such a stressful week at work, what with last-minute preparations for our board's annual meeting this past Thursday and Friday, that I didn't get to catch any of the quilt show 'til Saturday. And then, I only made it to the GFAC. This year quilts were exhibited in 6 different locations in downtown Flint. It's an awesome show and I highly recommend it!

I love quilts and have some small ones I use at home - mainly lap quilts and all purchased. I've never made one BUT I've needlepointed some and have always intended to start a stitching-related blog. So much to do and so little time, y'know?!

you're the best!

Every other Saturday I try to stop by CAM to check out their make-'n-take project, and today's was using this cutie patootie Reminisce autumn forest DP line, an apple die to make this autumnal card. I'm thinking that most folkes think of Labor Day as the transition into Fall BUT for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere, as in the United States, Canada and most of Europe, Fall (aka autumn) actually begins on September 22, 2009 at 5:18 p.m. EDT and lasts from the autumnal equinox (September) to the winter solstice (December).

So, this card's to celebrate the approaching Fall season! I love the rich colors of Fall, the smell of the leaves, etc. and it's my sister's favorite season. For me, I really appreciate Spring, Summer AND Fall ... OK, and maybe a couple months of Winter!

no deets except for knowing it was Reminisce DP ... 'cuz OF COURSE I had to buy more of the line, right?! thanx for stopping by!

gals day IN?!

My Mom and Sis stopped up after I got out of work Thursday. We've not been great at making time for "gals day out" outings lately but are trying to get together maybe once a month or so recently. I'd completely forgotten that I'd probably have to work late and when I rec'd my sister's e-mail reminder in the morning at work, we agreed to play it by ear and meet up at my place and I'd pick out a DVD. We picked up one that I'd highly recommended that I saw when the movie was playing in theaters but we never got to - Ghost Town - and I got it at a steal for $9.99 at Walmart - go figure! Awesome flick - a 5/5 star pick! Go rent it if you've not seen it yet! NOW!

a haunting we will go ...

My niece Jessy's nickname is kitty ... and I'm having fun finding all things scrappin'-related to kitties lately. Here's a young girl all decked out in a cat costume out trick -or- treating and about to stop, unbeknown to her, at a haunted house. Based on Little Paper Shop's LPSC32 sketch challenge, can you guess who this card's for?

stamps: studio g's series 20; paper: My Mind's Eye night light DP line, Paper Paradise's black and SU's Really Rust card stocks; ink: Color Box's charcoal and peach pastel chalk inks; accessories: K & Company's 3D card stock stickers; tools: Cuttlebug with spiderweb embossing plate

chills & thrills

Do you send out Halloween cards? It's probably my next most favorite holiday after Christmas, and I enjoy making Halloween cards for friends and family ... who gets 'em depends on how many I can get to make before I run out of time. I'm not an every day stamper like lots of those whose blogs I follow. I just don't see how you folkes fit it into every day, but I DO try to check blogs regularly in the morning before heading to work. Just ask my DH - I'm addicted to the Internet, LOL!

This card's based on a new sketch challenge blog - Crazy4Challenges - and their first Saturday sketch challenge, C4C1. I've subscribed thru Google Reader so you'll see more sketches soon. If you haven't already, check 'em out!

stamps: Cosmo Cricket's Haunted, studio g's series 34; paper: SEI's Eerie Alley web page DP, Paper Paradise's black and SU's Rich Razzleberry card stocks; ink: StazOn's Jet Black; accessories: SEI's eerie alley ribbon pack; tools: Cuttlebug with Nestabilities' circle and scalloped cirle dies

All About Steve

A few buddies and I met to see the latest Sandra Bullock movie today. I like her and went with reservations after seeing the previews. It was a bit too much "over the top" slapstick-ishy for my taste, 'tho my buddies all seemed to like it more than I did. I'd rate it a 3/5. Not at all in the same vein as others I've loved, ex, The Lake House, or While You Were Sleeping. Those I have on DVD and still watch occasionally. Maybe this one will grow on me ... sigh ...

kim was right

... hedgehogs rule! I love these little creatures, and this was my fav of the projects we made in Saturday's make-'n-take at Karen's! We used pencils and mineral spirits to color these cuties, a coloring technique I've only recently attempted. It was fun!

sorry, no deets - all supplies furnished in class

cool beans, Halloween!

Hey, that rhymes! I'm a poet, you wouldn't know it, but my feet show it - they're Longfellows! I've started to get into the spirit of Halloween, so to speak, and this card's based on Mandy's Limelight Papercrafts' LLPC029 sketch layout, using mainly items I'd picked up at CAM's New To You sidewalk sales last weekend. I think the kitty cat chipboard is the only item I picked up elsewhere. Mandy's challenge was to use the sketch below and have fun w dots - read more here - and Pile It On's challenge #13 was to use circles - yep, I've got 'em here!

stamps: imaginisce's skull; paper: imaginisce's Eat Drink & Be Scary, My Mind's Eye's Night Light Dotted Corn DP, Paper Reflections' black card stock; ink: StazOn's Jet Black; accessories: Bazzill Basic's Primula Raven flower, imaginsce's Bump in the Night Brads, Reminisce's Halloween chipboard stickers' cat

feel the chill in the air?

Halloween's fast approach- ing! The temps have been in the low 40's at night lately, complete with frost freeze advisories, and only reaching the high 70's during the day. School starts soon and before you know it Halloween will be here. I'm taking a 1/2 day vacation today to golf with my DH this afternoon and thought I'd post another project from last month's stamp club meeting - it measures about 1-3/4 x 4" so would fit small candy bar sized goodies - before getting starting on some Halloween cards. I picked up some cute stamps and DP at CAM's New To You sidewalk sales last month and they're begging to get inked! Catch ya later!
